On Jan. 9, 2009, the Rockwood Pigments Taicang, China site was recognized as Enterprise with Excellent Safety Performance in 2008 by the local government, the Taicang Harbor Development Zone, Taicang City.

In 2007, auditing firm TUV certified the site to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. In 2008, the site implemented a Total Hazards Identification and Evaluation program as well as a leadership development program and Behavior Based Safety program in place. In addition, the site conducted 8,684 behavior observations, and per capital training hours on SHE reached 28.64 hours.

With all the efforts, the site enjoyed a record accident-free year in 2008.
