Chemetall Lithium Receives Funding for the Recycling of Lithium Ion Batteries
The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety awarded 5.7 million Euros to Chemetall Lithium, a unit of Rockwood Holdings Inc., to set up a pilot plant for the recycling of lithium ion batteries.

Chemetall Chile Four Years With No Lost Time Accidents
Chemetall’s Salar de Atacama plant in Chile employs 90 people who run a solar ponds evaporation system in order to produce lithium salts. Plant operations started in the early 1980s and, throughout the years, this site has marked several safety achievements, including the four-year milestone.
